Sine Qua Non Eleven Confessions Syrah 2021

Syrah$250

"The 2021 Sine Qua Non Eleven Confessions Syrah is a powerful and complex red wine from the Sta. Rita Hills, crafted from a blend of 85% Syrah with Grenache, Petite Sirah, and white Rhone varieties. This vintage spent approximately 38 months in French oak, resulting in a lush, velvety texture and an impenetrable inky purple color. The aromatic profile is incredibly deep, featuring intense notes of blackberry liqueur, graphite, and exotic spices alongside savory hints of smoked meats and cracked pepper. Highly acclaimed for its seamless balance and remarkable length, this exceptional Syrah is built for long-term aging and will continue to evolve over the next 15 to 20 years."

The Full Tasting Note

How this bottle showed at our tasting bench

Nose

Blackberry liqueur, graphite, and exotic spice with savory smoked meat and cracked pepper β€” inky, wild, and instantly arresting.

Palate

Lush and velvety after 38 months in French oak, yet seamless β€” layer upon layer of black fruit, spice, and umami with no rough seams anywhere.

Finish

Remarkably long, sweet fruit and savory pepper interwoven to the last.

What We Love

  • A 100-point cult Syrah that actually justifies the hype in the glass
  • Manfred Krankl's blending (Grenache, Petite Sirah, white RhΓ΄nes) gives it dimension no varietal Syrah matches
  • 15-20 years of evolution ahead

What to Know

  • The maximalist style β€” extended oak, high ripeness β€” is polarizing among Old World Syrah devotees
  • Mailing-list scarcity means retail prices frequently run well above the $250 release

How It Compares

If the Austin Hope is California's plush modern style at accessible scale, this is the same hedonistic philosophy taken to its artistic extreme β€” five times the price, and in fairness, a genuinely different dimension of depth. Read our Austin Hope Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon review β†’
